It worked perfectly and still does a few years later. I used a D-Link Powerline to complete the ethernet connection placing one box next to the router in the house and the other box next to the DVR in the garage (hundreds of feet away). The last time I installed a Defender wired system, I placed it high up in a huge garage quite a distance from the house and from the network router. However, you will need to plan how the cables will run from the NVR to the cameras outside, and that may require drilling a hole big enough to fit the ethernet connectors through.
